The name 'Raphael' means 'the healing of God' or 'God heals'.

He is the angel of physical, mental, spiritual and emotional healing and is associated with divine love. We can ask Archangel Raphael for help when we need to heal ourselves and our children from all types of sickness, disease and illnesses. We can also ask for help when we want to heal others. He is also known for his powerful depth of kindness. We can also ask him to heal pets, wildlife and livestock.

Tobit 3:17

And Raphael was sent o heal them both, that is, to scale away the whiteness of Tobit's eyes.

Tobit 12:15

I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels, which represent the prayers of the saints, and which go in and out before the glory of the Holy One.

His healing powers do not just relate to the physical body. He can also heal matters related to the mind and spirit. He helps clear away any stress or fear that can be affecting health and inspires us to make healthy lifestyle choices. He leads us towards a positive outlook consisting of hope, levity and and laughter, no matter how grave our situation may be.

Also known as the 'Medicine of God', he can be called on to heal broken relationships, difficult situations, unwanted addictions and cravings, and memory improvement. He is good for meditation and calm breathing when in hospices and hospitals, for healing the sick, ill and injured, or to help guide us through the pain of bereavement and grief. He will assist us when we are facing surgery or illness, both slight or serious, and help us heal after.

As the patron of the sick, he supports all health care workers, especially nurses, carers, doctors, faith healers and pharmacists.

Archangel Raphael is also the patron of travellers and he supports those who work in the transportation industry. He guides us when we are away from home on journeys near and far, keeping us safe, especially when traveling by air.

He is tasked with assisting in restoring and maintaining harmony and peace among mankind. He is the guardian of weddings and conjugal love.

Archangel Raphael is known to communicate through our intuitions, thoughts, dreams and ideas and by simply answering your calls for medical intervention through the action of healing.

As the embodiment of compassion, he is often depicted as having a bright glowing green light emanating from him and surrounding him. In one hand he carries a staff with a caduceus upon it, which is the ancient symbol of the medical arts, or a walking stick. In the other hand he carries a bowl of healing balm or a medicine jar.
