The name 'Zadkiel' means 'righteousness of God'.

Archangel Zadkiel is the angel of joy, love freedom and mercy and is also associated with comfort, prayer and abundance.

He is associated with change and transformation, where change is needed for the good.

Archangel Zadkiel is considered to be the gentlest of all the Archangels. He is sometimes depicted as carrying the violet flame of righteousness, forgiveness and transmutation, or a dagger, surrounded by a blue or violet light.

He has the power to alter our negativity into a positive karma, bringing us tact and tolerance within the diversity of the ever changing world around us.

Archangel Zadkiel is also concerned with forgiveness, and assists us when we need to forgive ourselves or others to enable a personal relationship to move forward, even if the situation appears intolerable and impossible to forgive at first. He is the patron of those who forgive and will help us to come to terms with tragedy and others wrong doings towards us by releasing heavy emotions such as fear, anger and painful memories, and transmuting them back into love.

He supports all those involved with alternative, holistic and natural medicines, such as aromatherapists and reiki masters, guiding us towards choosing the most beneficial natural cure for our ails.

He will assist in improving our self-confidence when we feel it is ebbing away, bringing forth self-esteem and self-value, and developing our skills of persuasion and diplomacy to help navigate our way through any difficult or challenging situations. He can guide us through the use of these skills towards spiritual and material abundance.

Archangel Zadkiel will also support human memory, when we need to remember a name, event or place from the past. He will assist with memory retention when faced with important exams and will assist with recollection during exam pressures. He is particularly associated with healing memory and cognitive functional disorders.

He is responsible for caring for all creatures that fly, including birds, insects, bats and butterflies.
